Where is Downy? I don't see a window.

Downy lives in the menu bar and has no Dock icon. Click its icon in the menu bar to see waiting files, pause watching, or open Settings.

The panel didn't show up when my download finished.

Check that watching isn't paused (the menu bar icon is dimmed while paused) and that Downy is running. The panel appears at the top centre of the display with the pointer; you can change that in Settings › General › Show on.

What happens if I ignore the panel?

Nothing. The file stays in Downloads, untouched.

When do temporary files go to the Trash?

After the timer you picked: 15 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day or 1 week. Set the default in Settings › General. If your Mac was asleep or Downy wasn't running, overdue files are moved the next time it runs. Downy only moves a file that is still in your Downloads folder.

Can I get a file back?

Yes. Downy never deletes anything for good: files go to the Trash, where you can use Put Back. Right after a Trash action you can also use Undo in the panel. To save a temporary file before its timer ends, click Keep next to it in the menu.

Move can't find my folder.

Because Downy is sandboxed, it can only search folders you've given it. Add them in Settings › Destinations, or use “Pick once” in the panel to choose a folder by hand.

A shortcut clashes with another app.

The panel's shortcuts (⇧⌘T, ⇧⌘M, ⇧⌘S, ⇧⌘⌫, esc) only work while the panel is on screen. You can change them in Settings › Shortcuts; Restore Defaults puts them back.

How do I start Downy when I log in?

Turn on Settings › General › Open at login. If macOS asks, approve Downy in System Settings › General › Login Items.

How does the trial work?

Every feature is free for 7 days. After that, a single In-App Purchase unlocks Downy for good. No subscription. When the trial ends, new downloads are left alone until you unlock; files already marked temporary still go to the Trash on time.

How do I unlock Downy on another Mac?

Sign in with the same Apple Account you bought with, then open Settings › Purchase › Restore Purchase.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Does Downy read or upload my files?

No. Downy has no network access, no account and no analytics. It looks at file names and previews on your Mac only to show them in the panel. See our Privacy Policy.

How do I uninstall Downy?

Choose Quit from the Downy menu, then drag Downy from Applications to the Trash. Your files stay where they are.
